Hijack (2023)

I saw an ad for Hijack on Apple TV- Idris Elba was hijacking a train, that looked fun!

I set aside some time to check it out, and when I played I was disappointed to find out it was a plane. Turns out the ad was for season 2.

But I quickly found myself hooked. It portrayed a lot of the annoyances of being on a plane before the hijacking happened and they did a fantastic job of having tons of exciting twists around the corner that kept things interesting but it never felt like they were keeping too much from the viewer. Just a really great balance that had a fun ride the whole way through.

So now I was extra hooked to watch season 2. It finished up this week and I had watched it weekly. While there was a lot going for it, it felt like a huge downgrade. I'm not really sure what exactly didn't click- when I think about how everything tied together, all the action, everything going on, it all makes sense on paper, especially in reflection. I think overall it was way less interested in the characters, I really couldn't tell you much about any of them whereas the extended cast in the first season felt like they had a lot more going to them.

Overall, the series is fine. Worth checking out if you have Apple TV but I don't think it's worth going out of your way to get it.
